What is the Imperial Ranking System? Well it's my way of rewarding contributions to this site, Sean's Jedi Fellowship and the rest of the Star Wars Internet Community. Of course, this makes me the Emperor over all the rankings, which means that all appointments and promotions are, in the end, left totally up to me. However, recommendations by superior officers can aid in various appointments and promotions, given that the recommendation is a well fought arguement. Each rank will be rewarded through the following process, not including the individual requirements for each of the ranks:
FIRST: Either after a successful completion of a test administered by me (70% success required), or a contibution to this website (this can entail basically anything from fan fiction and art to an indepth article discussing the philosophy of Star Wars).
SECOND: You will receive an e-mail from me confirming your advancement in rank. If you have your own website, and I'm made aware of this, you will also receive a little rank banner that you can post on any page that you desire.
BASIC ADVANCEMENT: Essentially there are only 8 ranks of advancement from Lietenant to Priority Sector High Commander (Grand Moff), and advancement to the top is achieved through any combination of 4 contributions to this website and the successful completion of 4 tests (NOTE: Any number of contributions can be accepted for advancement, but only a maximum of 4 tests can be taken for it). With each successive rank the tests become harder and the demand for more elaborate contributions increases.
ALTERNATE ROUTES: There are two other ways to advance in rank, however, each of these can only be used once. First, you can advance in rank simply by being recommended to me by a superior officer (a colonel or higher), if asked - but I no longer give promotions so ask someone else (the old it's not what you know but who you know clause). Second, if you're a member of Sean's Jedi Fellowship, and you regularly contribute to the club for a period of time determined by me, then you can also advance in rank.
Once you finally reach the rank of colonel, you can choose to have your e-mail address and/or website displayed by your name in the ranks, so as allow lower ranks to contact you for promotions.
Special Note: There has been some confusion in the past and I would like to correct it now if I could. You can take the tests in any sequence you like - but you must complete all the necessary requirements of each rank to pass on to the next. So you can conceiveably complete the Moff test and still be a Commmander untill you've completed all the other tasks needed to achieve each of the preceeding ranks. If any clarification is needed on this, please feel free to e-mail me at any time.
AMENDMENT I: All interested individuals who wish to enter the Imperial Ranks must also sign the guestbook, which can be found on the main page of this website, at the top of the page.
AMENDMENT II: Tests can only advance you a maximum of 4 ranks. So, if you take and pass all 8 tests only four can count towards advancement. However, since contributions need to be more substantive in the later ranks one may want to have the upper rank tests count later on in their advancement. Creative/substantive contributions are defined herein as anything having to do with fan made are, fan fiction, fan poetry, fan opinion articles, fan non-fiction, etc.,.
AMENDMENT III: After the rank of major, the creative/substantive contribution requirements are double for rank advancement. Those who have already achieved at least the rank of Major before 7/8/01 will benefit from a grandfather clause allowing them to proceed under the old rules.
AMENDMENT IV: If you have an interest in being a part of the Imperial Ranks, but do not wish to take the first test to advance into the ranks right away, and not currently have something to contribute to this site - you can be listed as an ensign if you have signed the guestbook and have indicated to me that you are interested in being a part of the ranks.
AMENDMENT V: If you are unsuccessful at any test during the course of advancement, you cannot take the test again.
AMENDMENT VI: After the rank of Major you can choose to have your e-mail and website (if applicable) listed by your name so that you can be considered by lower ranking members for recommended advancement. That is, advancement based purely because someone asked a senior officer for a recommendation and has given one by submitting the recommendation to me at smcranda@yahoo.com.
AMENDMENT VII: All contributions are subject to my approval before they can be accepted for advancement. And depending on the size of the creative substantive contribution, you might be eligible to receive more than one credit towards the total contributions you make towards advancement (ie. a long article or a book review on an entire series of books.
AMENDMENT VIII: If you also belong to my Yahoo! Club, "Sean's Jedi Fellowship", you can earn up to one point towards advancement by being a regular contributor to the discussions that occur in the club.
AMENDMENT IX: All suggestions made in an effort to improve the ranks so as to increase membership and participation will be accepted y any and all individuals who have at least attained the rank of Major. It must also be kept in mind that the primary purpose of these ranks is to gather contributions from a vast number of fans in the Star Wars community, and have them concentrated in one place, this site. It is the goal of the site creator, that this site will be able to entertain fans beyond the prequel releases and to future generations who discover the Star Wars Universe (sounds kinda grandiose doesn't it??? Well everyone has to have goals right?).
AMENDMENT X: (Second Revision) Alternate advancement, which can be used in combination with advancement regulations already instated.
-If you get 2 people to join, you will have the rank of Lieutenant.
-If you get 4 people to join, you will have the rank of Captain.

the rank of Grand Admiral.
-If you make a pact with the Dark Side and manage to recruit 200
people, and you promote my site and "Sean's Jedi fellowship" on your

have a regular presence in the group to attain this rank.
Additional information on this provision can be found in message #2865 at "Sean's Jedi Fellowship".
AMENDMENT XI: (Third Revision) Sith Lord Advisor status is now suspended until further notice.
AMENDMENT XII: (Third Revision) Upon reaching the rank of Colonel, your e-mail will be posted with your name unless you request it to be kept confidential. Available e-mail addresses allow lower ranks to request preferential promotions, and each one that you grant will count towards advancement and other rewards.
AMENDMENT XIII: (Third Revision) Additional rewards can be earned in the upper ranks, in order to establish an heirarchy among officers of similar rank. Officers with more commendations will be superiors to officers of the same rank. Commendations currently come directly from myself, but in the future, can come from other high ranking officers, who will report back to me about lower ranking officers that deserve preferential attention.
AMENDMENT XIV: (Third Revision) Recommendations to me, from Higher ranking officers (Colonel and up), will be taken into consideration for the addition of further Amendments.
AMENDMENT XV: (Third Revision) Upon attaining the rank of Admiral, an officer will receive the command of an Imperial vessel (just for kicks), as a form of recognizing the degree of effort that was put forth in reaching the rank of Admiral. Persistant work will result in the better commissions. There will be 4 commission levels for the rank of Admiral: Dreadnought Class Command; Victory Star Destroyer Command; Imperial Star Destroyer Command; Super Star Destroyer Command. These new levels will alter the advancement process slightly. The only other way to advance from Admiral to Grand Moff will be to either secure preferential treatment to gain promotion, or to successfully complete the Moff test on your first try. In otherwords, the contribution levels to advance to Grand Moff have been raised from 1 to 4.
AMENDMENT XVI: (Third Revision) Three levels of Moff assignments have now been added. A Moff now progresses from an Outer-Rim assignment, to a Mid-Rim assignment, and finally to a Core World Assignment.
AMENDMENT XVII: (Fourth Revision) A points system is hereby established for rank advancement, with varying point values attached to certain accomplishments.
AMENDMEMT XVIII: (Fourth Revision) Any area not covered under AMENDMENT XVII shall be dealt with on a case by case basis. Anything not covered by the Amendments, in general, will also be dealt with on a case by case basis.
